IMPORTANT QUESTION!

I tried to do this on Facebook and everyone was absolutely useless, so I'm going to try it here.

CAN SOMEONE WHO IS ANTI-LGBT RIGHTS PLEASE TELL ME WHY YOU DON'T BELIEVE THAT GAY PEOPLE SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE MARRIED, AND WHY YOU SUPPORT THE NEW BILL IN ARIZONA??

ALSO, WHAT SORT OF EFFECT DO YOU BELIEVE THAT GAY MARRIAGE WILL HAVE ON YOUR LIFE?

I am not asking this as a way for me to then attack your beliefs. I am legitimately curious as to why you feel so strongly about it.

One important thing, if you are going to answer this question, please don't say "because the Bible says its a sin". Come on people, I need more creativity than that.

If you don't feel comfortable answering on the comments below, please feel free to send me a message on Facebook. I truly want some opinions, people!

  1. If a business owner wants the right to refuse service to anyone, I think they should be able to. I don't agree with most religions (and do not believe in any religion myself) but I know that there are a lot of people who truly believe they really are living the 'right' way and it's not my place to tell them they are wrong. If 'it' (being anything from people who are LGBTQ, black, muslim, wiccan, or peace loving hippies) makes them uncomfortable and goes against their beliefs, I think they should be able to object to providing their services to them in their private business. Places that are government owned should not have that right, though, which I know has nothing to do with this, but fits with an example. Let's say a doctor has a private practice and he doesn't believe in abortions. I think he has the right to refuse his services to that person. (Good god, I know I'm going into abortion debate territory.) But, I don't believe someone who works for a government clinic/office/hospital, etc has the option to choose, and that if that facility offers abortions, they have to do it. Same for choosing to treat gays, blacks, hippies, etc. I think it would be incredibly fucked up for someone to refuse service to someone for the above mentioned reasons, but I don't think we need to 'force' people to like each other, because it just further separates things. If someone REALLY hates gay people, they will let them know wether or not there is a law stating that it is legal or illegal.

I totes believe gay marriage should be legal. But I don't see what this law has to do with gay marriage? Unless there is another law I'm unaware of which could totally be the case because I've been avoiding Facebook and the internet as a whole because of this exact debate haha

    1. This law has nothing to do with gay marriage, I just figured I would lump it in with it, because I've been curious about what effect people think it will have.

I do agree that people have the right to refuse service, but the whole thing just makes me really sad.

    2. The overarching theme is what makes me sad. I wish we could all just accept everyone for who they are, which would make laws like this useless!
